John Candy: I Like Me


 John Candy: I Like Me is a funny and moving balm for the soul. Colin Hanks documentary on the late great Canadian comedy icon is a beautiful film about a beautiful man who loved and pleased everyone but in the end couldn’t save himself from himself. Much like Won’t You Be My Neighbor? or Super/Man this is hagiography that actually earns its lack of skeletons in the closet because that really doesn’t matter, Candy was a genuinely decent human being so why not celebrate that. The insights are thoughtful, the footage and access is amazing and at the center of it all is Candy who is pure genuine warmth. Films like this (and people like Candy) make the world feel a little brighter. 

I Give It 5 Stars!!!
