V/H/S/Halloween

 V/H/S/Halloween is the eighth installment in what is now a yearly franchise and it is one of the best offerings yet. In classic V/H/S fashion this is a collection of 6 found footage shorts built around a halloween theme where among other things, a beverage taste test, trick or treating, a kid safety id, a family haunted house and a halloween party detour all go horrifically wrong. The V/H/S franchise since its inception in 2012 is built on using a nostalgic format to push boundaries of mayhem, gore and good taste and by that metric, this film is a triumph. There is not a weak segment in the bunch but the clear standouts are Too Many Cooks mastermind Casper Kelly’s segment Fun Size and Alex Ross Perry’s segment Kidprint which may just be the darkest and most nightmarish segment in the franchise. Not for the faint of heart or the non-horror faithful but for fans of this franchise V/H/S/Halloween delivers some delightfully nasty tricks and treats.
