Vicious

 Vicious is a film that captures interest at first before the sinking realization sets in that just about every scene is going to be exactly the same as the one before it. This film about a troubled young woman forced into a deadly game after receiving a mysterious visitor is a film that after the inciting incident occurs falls into three scenes repeated for the next 90 minutes, loud sudden jump scare, loved one of protagonist is actually supernatural villain playing a trick and supernatural force manipulates heroine into thinking she is winning and repeat, oh and make sure neither the protagonist or the audience has any closure or sense of what reality is and make sure they never do. Dakota Fanning is trying and the filmmaking is solid enough but it can’t save Vicious from being an exercise in pointlessness so egregious it borders on sadistic.
